25 Sept 2023, Amsterdam – Energie voor Elkaar, (“EVE”), the sustainable energy platform that is revolutionizing the way local communities in the Netherlands heat their homes and businesses, is delighted to be celebrating its 10th anniversary. To mark this significant milestone, EVE was joined by over 100 representatives from its long-standing partners, including housing corporations, municipalities, provinces, contractors, and customers. Additionally, EVE welcomed new potential partners with whom discussions are underway to connect to the heat network. Together, they convened to celebrate this achievement and engage in discussions aimed at accelerating the energy transition and realizing the Dutch climate goals.
Since its establishment in 2013, EVE has pioneered the development, construction and operation of district heating networks, reaching more than 20,000 households and businesses and making a significant impact on the reduction of CO2 emissions in the Netherlands. Established by Valentijn Kleijnen, a leader in the Dutch energy transition and the founder of pioneering company Warmtebedrijf Ede, EVE was built on a vision to develop smart district heating networks and supply local, sustainable energy to those in its communities. From its first project in Ede, EVE has expanded to a further 15 Netherlands municipalities, including Amersfoort and Almere. EVE is backed by Asper Investment Management and its investors, which provides it with a reliable source of capital for its growth. With a strong commitment to innovation through smart and green district heating networks, EVE is shaping the future of sustainable heating in the Netherlands.
Valentijn Kleijnen: “At EVE we not only dream about a sustainable world: we work every day with great dedication to make this dream come true.” To celebrate this remarkable journey, EVE hosted a special 10th anniversary event on the 25th of September 2023 in Ede. Around 120 people joined the EVE team to celebrate this milestone together and to exchange ideas to further accelerate the energy transition and achieve the Dutch climate goals. The event featured site visits, guest speakers and an opportunity to hear from local communities who have benefited from EVE’s district heating networks. EVE’s CEO Valentijn Kleijnen expressed his gratitude to the dedicated team and supportive communities that have made this journey possible. As the move to decarbonize its energy sector gathers momentum, the Netherlands finds itself with one of the most active sustainable heating and municipal energy markets in the world. To speed up the energy transition and meet climate goals, Asper believes that policy making will have to be ambitious, and that public and private parties will have to collaborate. Supporting the growth of entrepreneurial development teams such as EVE is at the core of Asper’s mission to “Build the New”, and of our investment strategy that combines infrastructure project financing with aspects of growth equity investing. Olivier Delpon de Vaux, Director at Asper: “EVE’s 10th anniversary is a testament to the hard work and determination of the team, as well as the trust and support of the local communities we serve. We will continue to invest in expanding existing and developing new district heating networks in the Netherlands. We are excited about the future and continuing to invest in sustainable heating solutions for the Netherlands. The next decade promises further advancements for EVE’s contribution to the Dutch energy transition, by diversifying sustainable and local heat sources, including waste heat and geothermal heat and expanding into new municipalities.”
